Cinema.

Since the first quarter of the 20 th century, the Panamanian people has always been fond of movie going as a pleasant way of entertainment and use of their spare time.

It is said that in spite of the economic crisis undergone by humankind during that period, cinemas were always crowded as they served as a way to escape from everyday problems seriously affecting Panamanians as well.

Thus, this young industry continued to grow and so Amador, Cecilia, Variedades and El Dorado Theatres in this city and America and Strand theatres in the city of Colón made good profits thanks to US films that were regularly displayed.

Introduction of new technologies has gradually improved the Panamanian film-making industry. However, domestic film production still has a long way to go.
